The Medina Family

Yesterday I shot some impromptu photos of the Medina Family. It was gorgeous and sunny( a little too sunny). Did I mention that it was super cold too. We managed to get a couple of good photos in. Below are some of my favorites.

Drew flying through the air , showing us many of his special abilities.

Ainsley(very cold but was a trooper) and Drew with his funny face

I will be shooting their larger family photo this Spring. So stay tuned for those shots.
Happy New Year to everyone and we will see you in 2008.

Maximus - one of our Boston Terriers

My friend Jen MacNiven ( kick booty photographer) came to visit and our big dreams of shooting the full moon were squashed by the big storm that was brewing that brought us all of the snow. In the meantime, she took some pics of our adorable Boston terriers, Maximus and Diezel. Maximus is the poser of the two. Diezel just turns in to a little freak and tucks his ears back. Enjoy the photo of Maximus that Jen took.

Let it Snow .. a lot

We had a white Christmas here in Castle Rock, Colorado. It snowed about 10 inches on Christmas day and today it snowed about another 4-6 inches. All of the kids in the neighborhood have been playing in the snow, sledding and some kids down the road have the cutest Husky pup that they have been taking for walks.

I have been focused on a couple of picture projects for our family as well as getting things prepared for 2008 with some of the upcoming weddings. I am sure that anyone who knows me well enough will get a laugh out of this picture. Rob says that I still laugh this hard today. Enjoy a flashback to 1986 in Fairbanks, Alaska with my sister Melissa. Oh yeah, I am the goofball on the right side.

Santa Claus........

Well last night we spent some time trying to take pictures of our Santa Claus ornaments. Our favorites are the ones that are hand painted or hand carved. Our nephews have just started to figure out who Santa Claus is- they call him- pronounced ' Sante Klausch'. My friend and photographer Jen MacNiven is staying with me tonight. We are going to shoot the moon ( no pun intended) Christmas Eve morning. The moon will be full setting behind the Rockies. So I am hopeful that we get some good shots to share.

Tucson, Arizona - December 14, 2007

It has been a long couple of weeks with work at Herman Miller. So my apologies for not posting. The launch of the site has been received very well. Many thanks to you all for your comments and feedback. I already have quite a few gigs lined up for next year. 3 weddings and 4 family portraits!! yeah-

This past Friday I was in Tucson for a fellow compadres retirement party. As I was walking out I noticed how blue the sky was and how gorgeous the saguaro cactus are in Arizona. So I quickly shot this as we drove back to Phoenix.

We are looking forward to the holidays and a much needed break. My friend Jen Macniven will be in town and we are going to shoot the full moon on Christmas Eve morning as it sets behind the Rockies. So stay tuned for those pics. Also check her out at http://jenmacniven.blogspot.com/

Thanksgiving in Atlanta and Auburn vs Alabama Game

Whew- what a whirlwind it has been the last 10 days. We were with family in Alabama and Atlanta over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Got to see a lot of old friends and family that we had not seen in quite a while. Of course the highlight was seeing our nephews who had turned in to little boys since the last time we had seen them. Man - do they love ice cream. Isaac on the left, LOVES- "Chocolate". They could not be more opposite in looks and personalities. They can be quite the hams in front of the camera. Their Mom is as nutty about taking pictures as much as I am.

We also got to see our AUBURN TIGERS - win the 6th consecutive Iron Bowl over the weekend. Great game and way too much tailgating. Looking forward to taking some Holiday pictures so stay tuned.

about me

My passion for photography can be traced back to early teenage years. A love of Ansel Adams,National Parks, and nature in general have always been a strong influence in my life. From my very first, really bad Polaroid shots I've had a love for photography. Most people would verbally tell their life story, or write about it, my story can best be told by viewing my many photo albums, where every important moment seems to be captured in a photograph.

I am a graduate of Auburn University ( War Eagle! ) , where I earned my BA in Interior Design. I am originally from Prattville Alabama, but spent time growing up in Alaska. Alaska is where my love for the great outdoors really blossomed, as well as my appreciation and passion for photography and adventure. This passion has been a motivating factor for a lot of traveling, including many road trips throughout college, as well as my relocation to the Pacific Northwest immediately following college graduation. This same sense of adventure has once again influenced the latest move to the Denver Colorado area, where I currently reside with my husband Rob as well as our two Boston Terriers- Maximus and Diezel.

Whether it’s an impromptu road trip (which seem to happen every other weekend) , our wedding in Costa Rica, or a simple walk downtown, I can’t help but to see things through a different lens. The opportunity to capture emotions, memorable moments, and the things that others aren’t looking for or don‘t see, are
what drive my photography.
